Adam McEniry, Senior ESG Advisor

Mr. Adam McEniry has 15 years international experience specializing in environmental, social and governance (ESG) management, and above ground risk assessment. Adam has extensive working experience with companies and communities around responsible resource developments across Latin America. Notably, Adam served as Vice President Corporate Affairs and Sustainability for First Majestic Silver Corporation where he was responsible for managing community and environmental issues, government, legal and external communications for six operating mines and additional exploration projects in Mexico. He also served as Director of Corporate Social Responsibility for Gran Tierra Energy.  There he guided and established standards and procedures for the company’s operations located in Colombia, Peru and Brazil, and directed the company’s first GRI report. in Ecuador, Adam has delivered on a number of ESG-related projects including setting up community relations programs, producing a social and environmental baseline study, as well as a traditional environmental knowledge (TEK) study for three separately owned copper development projects. Adam also worked at Vale Base Metals corporate affairs supporting and managing government (legislative and regulatory) and a number of national and international public affairs issues. Recently he was engaged by a Canadian junior exploration company to assist in managing its formal relations with 11 First Nations (indigenous groups) holding territorial rights in the company’s concession areas, as well as developing ESG-related company policies.

Adam holds a bachelor in International Studies (Development and Economics focus), York University, Toronto, Canada, an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at Western University, and a certificate in the resolution of social environmental conflicts from the Catholic University of Peru.  Adam is currently pursuing a Juris Doctorate at Metropolitan University’s Lincoln School of Law with a focus on corporate and cross-jurisdictional liability, particular in relation to ESG.  He speaks fluent Spanish, French, and Portuguese in addition to his native English.
