Mehrdad Nazari, Director, ESIA, ESG, GRI & Sustainability Advisor

Mehrdad has over 25 years of professional experience, including 10 with the European Bank (EBRD), in environmental, social and sustainability consulting, advising financial institutions and their clients.

Mehrdad’s advisory practice is focused on activities involving the IFC Performance Standards and the Equator Principles; independent environmental & social due diligence and monitoring (incl. Independent Engineer and Independent Monitoring Group assignments); Human Rights reviews, and sustainability reporting and assurance.

Previously, Mehrdad headed CSR Research at CoreRatings, London (now DNV), working with a team of 20 analysts and advising socially responsible asset managers; served as Principal Environmental Specialist at the European Bank, London (EBRD), reviewing and monitoring a high risk investment portfolio exceeding $3 billion; and was Project Manager and EHS Auditor with Dames & Moore Frankfurt (now URS), supporting blue chip clients with their compliance and M&A-related due diligence initiatives.

Mehrdad studied in Germany (BSc-equivalent, Mineralogy, J.W. Goethe) , USA (Fulbright) and the UK, and holds an MBA (Henley, UK) and MSc (Hydrogeology, University of Birmingham, UK). He has also attended numerous courses ranging from ISO 14001 EMS to Human Rights and Impact Assessment, and delivered numerous courses related to IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and sustainability reporting. Mehrdad is the founding director of Prizma and is based in the USA.
